Not sure why you need to build new hard brake lines to the rear WCs if yours are still good. Is it because you can't get the right replacement hoses? I hope you will try and get the right ones from Chip. After all you paid for them and Chip is a vintage SAAB specialist. I think they're all the same on the different model year 96s, so they should be "gettable" from other places if you're looking for other sources. I got some last year from Motorsport Sweden. I finally got them and they fit fine but I find Motorsport Sweden is a pain to deal with, very unresponsive in my experience anyway.
I actually made new hard lines for my car because mine were very rusted and in bad shape. I got some tubing, a tubing bender, and a double flare kit from Eastwood auto. Their flare kit is junk, the 3/16" dies keep breaking so I would look elsewhere for that. The wierd part is the ISO bubble flare that goes into the wheel cylinder. The bubble flare I made was simply the first step in making the double flare, when the tube is mushroomed over with the first die. It took a few pracice trys to get it right.
BTW, 35 NOS NIB brake hydraulics are the same as 35 year old in-the-car parts in my opinion. The issue is rust in the bore and the plyability of the 35 year old rubber seals. I would rebuild any hydraulic brake part that's been sitting around for a while, or at least take it apart and inspect it.
