...I agree with the rebuilding of the NOS 35 year old part. My inexperience is more the issue here. You learn something, hopefully, with every project. I am enjoying the learning process, the spending hurts a little. There is a brake flare kit made by "Old Forge" that seems to be pretty well made. I saw one in use in my evening shop class, and the teacher seemed to think it was pretty good.
As for Chip, I like him, but I am unsatisfied with what I have received so far: wrong belt, wrong lines, and a $700 complete rear (NOS) bumper that turned a brassy color and fogged up in 3 months. I re-spent an additional $500 to have the original bumper redone, and took Chips off. So I have spent a good chunk of change for stuff that has been for the most part unusable, and paid again to do what I should have done originally (had he old stuff redone) I don't believe he could have predicted the bumper issue, and I can't and won't blame him. Just a high level of frustration with my own stupidity in regards to all things Saab. Like the master cylinder issue, maybe its better to have the original stuff redone rather than attempt to find new replacement parts.
I do have good luck with Ashcraft. If Motorsport Sweden is the place overseas, I have been frustrated trying to get coordinated with them and have given up. I may try MSS in Jamestown NY. next.
Thanks for your advise.
Randy
