I hate to see a sincere you student get taken for big gobs of $$$ merely
because he is a youth! Although it is nearly impossible in todays world for all of us to keep from getting taken at one time or another. I am a depression baby (1930's) and my life has pretty much been spent trying to
get buy on the cheap, until it has practically become an art form with me.
In my opinion this is particularly true in the world of autos, especially
Saabs in which the ownership of one automatically stamps a $ sign on your
forehead! But I maintain that when learning, the cheapest way is the way to
learn the most! The biggest thing to overcome is the ego which takes a beating from some who try to exploit it for a higher price. Start with the easy stuff; bumpers, starters, alternators, accessories, rebuild the brakes and wheel cylinders, stuff you can get to easy. First look for rebuilders of those parts, search the archives of this site and Vsaab for
tips to rebuilders, even for parts that interchange, like Pinto and Volvo
pistons for the v-Saab. You will learn more, and when faced with the fear of being "breaking something" or "not paying enough" i remind myself, "it's
not working now anyway!" and plow ahead. Thanks 4 listening to my 2 cents
worth, in the end you will find your own style and way of doing things, be
patient, don't get discouraged and Good Luck!
