Magnus..you are one of the two strokes experts! Two questions...

The rear muffler on my beautiful 66 two stroke, I removed because it was choked. I love the resulting sound, and have been running it ever since that way. I am told that it wears the engine down if the muffler is removed: something about back pressure?

In your humble opinion, is this true. What precisely causes the premature wearing?

Can a two stroke really be driven at 80 mph? One of the two stroke guru (s) told me top is about 55mph and it should not be driven for long there..and to keep fluctuating the speed to make the engine last longer..
Could be bull, yet wanted another opinion.,
