Sorry for the delay in reply. . . i was in Detroit yetsreday (best day of my life. . )
Indeed the strokers are addictive!! To be honest, i'm really not sure what the length of the glasspack was. Back then i didnt know the "black art" of tuned length exhausts either. . . The stright pipe coming from the front muffler was probably a 2", while the exhaust tip coming from the glasspack (which was mounted at the rear where the stock muffler would be) was at least a 2.5" Looking back, that may be the reason why i had to change engines 2 days after i brought the car home!!! What Peter said was somewhat of a contradiction: "The front muffler gives all the backpressure needed, while the rest is just there for quieting purposes" Quieting exhaust of any car is basically backpressure. Slow down the air, less noise is made. My friend Trey (Ernest W. Durbin on this board, college freshman, 3 years older than me) had a custom exhaust made without a rear muffler, and the pipe was made reeeaaaly narrow to gain back the backpressure lost with the muffler being gone. It has the great "popcorn noise" you get when you ditch the muffler and was still dB legal. . I don't know what my setup sounded like in good condition since i had a 5" hole rusted through my front muffler. . .
A. Graham Bell's book can be found on Amazon.com Very enlightening and helpful indeed!!!
just curious, where are you located Luv dem Old?
