Saabers, I am very curious of the proper way to rebuild the 96 transmission. I have a spare that I will open. I understand that the idea of supporting the vendor, however I wish to do the work myself.
I am a full-time mechanic with my own shop and a 25-year owner of a SAAB 95 wagon. I have rebuilt the transmission myself. I recommend that you should not undertake this project. I could do it again but I have friends who can do it better.
I figure between all the people who drive these cars.., that at least someone tried, rebuilt and suceeded. I ventured as far as removing the diff, hubs, covers, yet ran into a bit of a challenge for there was a special tool that was needed. I am curious as what causes the whining and how the noise can be eliminated
My first intention is to make a transmission stand.
That is the least of your problems.
Any advice or input would be appreciated..
