Hi Roger, I got the name Kansas many years ago when I was the only Kansan at my college in Portland Oregon. I grew up in Lawrence, Kansas, 40 miles west of Kansas City, ie eastern Kansas. Tornados are fun yup. Freewheel was incorporated to keep 2-strokes from burning up as you say. I have never seen any information to the contrary that I trust. But they did keep freewheel on V4s, I can understand that as a holdover, but they also
kept it on early 99s, I have never understood that. I expect your salesman got his pitch from somewhere and agree that if you can use the technique of getting off the gas in an ice skid you might be better off, but I find it hard to swallow that they incorporated the freewheel function for that reason.
