The saab freewheel is not a centrifugul clutch that is dependant on the increasing engine speed to engage but a much more refined relative speed clutch. The clutch will engage when the internal shaft, driven by the engine tries to rotate faster than the outer shaft. The power was tranfered by rollers that were spring loaded in groves connected to the internal shaft pushing against the outer sleeve. When the internal shaft tries to rotate faster than the external sleeve the rollers would wedge in between the internal shaft and the sleeve transfering power to the gears. This can be demonstrated by parking a car with a freewheel in first gear in a slight incline. The car will not roll backwards but can be pushed forward as the rollers disingage when the outer sleeve rotates and the internal is stationary. Sorry if I have tried to explain this in too much detail but the design is to good to be dismissed as a plain centrifugal clutch.
