C'mon guys, who's kidding who here? I've spoken with Saab senior executives several times, they know perfectly well the car is outdated. What do you expect, it's a tiny company still getting used to GM management.
C&D is the best auto magazine in the country. Whoever it was that said you have to read the european press, ever picked up a copy of Car? They're not exactly thrilled with the car either. At all.
We all know this, yet here we are pretending that C&D has some crazy anti-Saab bias or some inscrutible flaw in their testing regime that results in the 9-3 constantly ranking at or near dead last. Just whistling in the dark, man. I like my 9-3 too (when it's not falling apart), but I also know that it's not nearly as well engineered as most of the competition.
Does it have qualities I like, that the other brands don't? Yes. I like that it's unusual, I like the hatch, I love how it looks, I love the seats. But it's still a benchwarmer, at least for now.
