I would wait and see the Vector and faster performing models.

I was at my dealer today just checking the 9-3SS out since I was in the neighborhood. The exterior is certainly up-to-snuff - no complaints there other than a slightly generic/cheap-looking rear end. Driver position has noticably more room in the footwell. I'm only 5'8" but I know a lot of folks have complained about the dead petal in the 9-3 hatches. The butterfly cupholder is interesting - it's certainly got "quirk". The leather seats seemed very comfortable though not as HQ as the ones in my Viggen (duh).

This was the base model. Didn't even see the sticker price since I was just perusing, but I believe this car goes for just a couple thousand more than a decked out Accord 4 cylinder.

I spoke with the salesman that sold me my Viggen and he said that the Vector trim would be much sportier as well as offer the 210HP 2.0T engine and that I should come back for a test drive in a couple of months. He also said that in 2-3 years they expect but couldn't confirm a "Viggen" type variant.

I didn't get to drive the car, so I don't feel like I REALLY know yet how I feel about it, but for the money it still seems like a very nice car. If the handling is as improved as reports so far have suggested, with the 210HP engine, or better in a couple of years, I think this car will still be on my radar. I see more and more SAABs on the road in Atlanta all the time, so I suspect that I'll be seeing quite a few of these new 9-3 sedans as well.
