Hey John. I am the proud owner of a 99 Viggen (manufacturers vehicle from Europe) That term can mean alot of things. Both good and bad. It means everyone from the car wash guy to the sales manager my have driven it. It may have been a loaner. You just don't know. That's problem. On the other hand, it may have been soley driven by someone at the dealer. Washed and waxed every weekend, oil changed at every service interval, only driven on Sundays to dealer meetings. You just don't know. That's another problem.
By you comments about curb rash, I doubt the car was "babyed".
Search the board on Viggen problems. You will find a few. Check the car to see if it has (or has had)any of these problems. If the car was dealer serviced, they should have a record of it. (Check about the remainder of your warranty)
The biggest problem with the Viggen is those made of putty wheels.
Find an owner who hasn't bent one and play the lottery number he offers you.
I've got two words of advice for you INDEPENDENT MECHANIC.
Get someone else to look at the car. If the seller balks, I'd walk.
My dealer let me take cars I was thinking of purchasing 20 miles to the nearest indie SAAB mechanic. If they've got nothing to hide, it shouldn't be a problem.
I've had my share of problems. All willingly fixed by my dealer.
Am I sorry I bought the car......No way.
Would I buy another one.....In a second.
This probably gives you even more food for thought.
Good luck.
John
