1999 9-3S Issues or "Quirks"? LONG! Posted by Andrew [Email] (#1013) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Andrew) on Thu, 13 Feb 2003 21:11:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Okay, so I purchased a Saab Certified Pre-Owned 1999 9-3S 5-speed last week.
Today, the Saab/Scania/Griffin emblem on my hood fell off-not the silver base, just the paper-ish logo part. With the car being a week old to me and a CPO, should I have to pay for a new hood emblem or would they just put a new one on?
Also, I've had some difficulty shifting into second gear and also just can't seem to make the shift from 1st-2nd and sometimes 2nd-3rd smoothly. I've driven manuals before and never had this problem. Looking around these boards, I've seen mention of a transmission update for 1999 9-3's. Would this update get rid of the need for a solid pull into 2nd? I mean, it's not like I'm trying to shift with one finger here, it's just that I don't even have to push as hard to get into 5th as I do to get into 2nd! And this happens after it's been warmed-up and driven for a while.
One more thing. Does anyone know if the Gislaved Speed P506's are snow tires or not? I can't tell, but I don't think they are. My friends all tell me they are and that I should get new ones, but I think they're way off-base with this one, even know they all have Saabs. Can anyone clear this up once and for all?
Okay, one more final thing, I swear this is it! I have the manual ventilation controls, in other words, no digital climate control. The control dials are stiff, and when I turn it to a specific position, it will go a little bit backwards before stopping. I find myself having to turn them a little past where I want them so they will fall back to exactly where I want them. Don't get me wrong, they don't fall back an inch or anything, I'm just concerned they're going to break off as I've read previously here. So should I see if the dealer'll replace them, or just wait to see what happens? I know the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", but I've read of these breaking and people having to fix them!
Okay, thanks for dealing with these probably inane questions! Thanks for your help, you guys/gals have always been knowledgeable and helpful! Andrew.
