1) 2001 5-door Viggen, 25K miles
2) In addition to having a notchy, unsmooth feel overall, I have at times been sitting at red lights and the shifter WILL NOT go into first as if something is blocking it. If I release the brake and the car rolls at all, problem solved. If the ground is flat then I have to move the shifter to 2nd and then into first. I miss the 3->4 shift sometimes because of stickiness getting out of 3rd and sometimes semi-blockage getting into 4th. None of these symptoms is easily reproducable other than the overall notchy feel.
3) Recently took car to dealer for 25K oil change, tech-II programming and was hoping to get the MTF0063 change done. I complained of the symptoms described in 2) but was given the traditionl "could not reproduce" line when I went to pick the car up. At the time I did not know that the MTF0063 change was a warranty issue or would have pressed harder. I intend to do so at my 30K free maintenance and will probably tell them that failure to do the change will result in a really bad rating from me when they do their follow-up survey. This of course is dependent on it truly being a warranty item, Nick from Genuine SAAB says it is and has no reason to mislead us all. If it is not a warranty item I suppose I'll pay the $150 but if as the document states shift quality is improved, my EXPENSIVE Viggen needs it.

Thanks Mr. Science,

John
