I drive a mix that's mostly uncongested city with a couple weekly longer freeway stints of 20ish miles. My SID hovers around 9.0L/100km (I insist on metric units for a Swedish car :-), which is about 26.0mpg.
Mine is a 5spd, and I sometimes, but infrequently, truly enjoy the turbo. Most shifts around 3k.
If I go on a long freeway trip, I expect 30+, depending how fast I cruise. A leisurely 70mph will usually net me around 32, 85mph more like 30. I have enjoyed stretches of 35mpg at higher altitude.
Your mileage sounds about right for the style of driving you describe and your auto tranny. A few things which might factor in include the grade of gasoline you use (higher is better...unfortunately CA will only give you 91, no 93), your propensity for using the turbo (less is better, for gas mileage only ;-), and things like hills & wind (near the coast?)
Might check if SID is matching your "actual" consumption.
