The handling has two components, the suspention it self, and the tires. Low profile tires are much less sloppy and squirmy. High performance tires on 16" rims are quite decent. 17" rims put you at risk of bent wheels.

With a MBC+A, 1st gear will always be overpowered. But in 2nd gear, you will have very strong performance at WOT (wide open throttle). Without a tire that has good traction, that might not work well. And when you have enough power, a tire with a high wear rating can wear faster than a softer tire with a low load rating that grips well. Just remember that a tire that does not grip enough experienced abrasive wear from slippage on the pavement. So tire choices are very important.

And tires control emergency braking distances, not the pads or rotors. So a performance tire will stop faster and also will support lateral traction loads during accident avoidance.

Tirerack has a few nice attractive wheels that are priced right. By getting wheels and tires together, they arrive mounted and balanced for no added cost. And the costs for shipping separately would be a lot more too. So its a pretty good deal.
