My 2000 9-3 endured 2 years of German winters, with harsh chemicals on the roads. It was washed regularly, to include the undercarriage. Then we moved to Hawaii, which is very tough on car finishes with salt air and volcanic gases from the big island being blown to Oahu, plus the sun that fades and bakes exteriors and interiors. The only sign of rust is a small spot bubbling up in the frame around the sunroof glass. The paint finish is excellent. The leather interior looks new (and smells as nice as it did when new). The exhaust and underside is free of corrosion. It's 5 years old and has traveled 105,000 miles on its own (I'm not counting sea miles). My Saab is proving to be very durable as it ages gracefully. In May it heads for the mainland where I intend to fulfill my dream of driving it across the North American continent (Seattle) to my home state of Virginia.
