I have not seen this new kit, but have used Konis many times on VW products and other German cars.
If they adjust with the knob at the top of the strut, you will have a lot of fun. I started with them set full soft and moved to 1/4 harder for routine use. For autocross I would go to 3/4 hard.
The older style used an internal adjustment where you could only set them by compressing the shock fully and turning the shaft. That meant removeing the shock from the car. Koni literature said the adjustment was to compensate for wear. When I had them installed, I told the shop to set them 1/4 hard. Mever adjusted them after and they were fine.
Later they had a top adjust version for the rears also. Top adjust was great.
I found deCarbon high pressure gas shocks (Bilstein, KYB, etc.) can get a bit harsh in winter. The Konis were just so nice. I did not use lowering springs, instead I opted for stiffer progressives so the initial compression was smooth and rapidly stiffened. Much better ride and very predictable.
