I am about to change the automatic trans fluid on my daughter's '96 900 turbo convertible. It is pristine with 45m miles.

The spec is for Dexron III. I'm inclined to go with a major oil company brand. Then I notice that eeuroparts shows that ATF 3309 is compatible with all post '79 automatics. Has ATF 3309 replaced Dexron III? Or should I stick with Dexron III? I have a case of 3309 on hand for my 2003 9 AERO.

Over the years I have trans failures after the trans fluid is changed. My '87 9000 blew a trans on vacation right after a dealer trans fluid change and my '91 9000 blew it's trans about 3,000 miles after a change to redline fluid. So I don't want to go for three.

I went thru the posts on changing the fluid and will do the three change routine.

Comments and advice is appreciated.
