All good advice. I figure that having someone make sure that I am on the most current version of the software cannot hurt and if that does not solve my problems I will probably just quit there unless I had a sense that there was something relatively low-cost to diagnose and repair. A vacuum leak seems like one of those, but an MAF does not, at least for the part. Your comment on the rebuilt TB is well taken and consistent with what I have heard, but there is not much that I can do about it at this point.
Hindsight being 20/20 I probably should have sold the car 18 months and 20K miles ago before I started down the road of spending $2000 on repairs $300-500 at a time. As long as it runs reasonably well and remains a fun car to drive I will enjoy it for as long as I can.
