Will a grenaded clutch still allow some tough shifting? Really feeling sick about this clutch problem, so I went out to confirm on the symptoms again. It's dark and raining here now, so I'm not gonna take the car out anywhere.
Basically, I can shift into nearly all the gears easily from key on/engine off. When I turn engine on, I can shift 1,2,3,4 with difficulty. Rubbery sort of feel. Have to push/pull hard and it snaps in. No other noise or grinding. I can't seem to get 5 or reverse at all though with the car running idle. Both of those on that far right side range. If it's like it was the other day, I assume I could shift into 5 while driving at higher speed. Not sure why, but this seems to make things a bit easier.
My guess is driving the car now would be almost like two days ago less the idle problem. I can shift, but it's tough. How would this be possible with the blown up clutch? Could it be partially broken up in there? I might try the alignment procedure tomorrow just for the heck of it, though nobody sent me any links so I'm not sure on the best instructions out there for it.
I've read that the whole tranny has to be "dropped" in order to anything with the clutch so I guess with me and my two jack stands and limited garage setup I'm screwed on doing anything with that.
Of course, I want to check and fix all I can before I have to "assume the worst" and call up the rebuild goons telling them I know their clutch job just blew to pieces :-/
