Forgot to add it's not butter easy with the engine off Posted by Nicholas [Email] (#2995) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nicholas) on Fri, 12 Aug 2011 19:07:50 In Reply to: Will a grenaded clutch still allow some tough shifting?, Nicholas [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 12 Aug 2011 19:03:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It's just much easier to shift to all the gears than with the engine on. Something definitely seems messed up. Also, if a "grenading" clutch makes any sort of bad noise, etc. then I didn't hear it at the time. I was idling towards a stop light shifting I think down to 2nd when I first had this problem. Obviously not being an expert, I thought it had something to do with the low idle at the time. I'm even beginning to wonder if my temp rev efforts to keep the a/c going at a few stop lights might have somehow wound out the clutch too much. However, I can't believe anything I did was in the "abuse" category ... and it certainly wasn't long term as it was less than a few miles or so of driving like that.
