Checkout Platonoff's site: platonoff.com, for a tutorial on how to adjust the shifter. He says to to use a couple of allen wrenches (which can fall down in the transmission if they are too small). I just use a couple of small screwdrivers.
If the clutch made it 30-k miles, I doubt that was installed wrong. But, a rear main seal leak can ruin a clutch disk if oil gets on it.
Have you checked the oil level in the transmission? Not many people seem to do this, let alone change the transmission oil. When the transmission was out, some of its oil drained out when the axle was removed. I wounder if the mechanics filled it back up with the correct oil.
Finally, always take a picture of the tag on top of the transmission before having any major work like this performed. You want to be sure that your original transmission is replaced, and not some other one with bad synchros... Ron
