Troubleshooting so far. BETTER, but still confused! Posted by Nicholas [Email] (#2995) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nicholas) on Wed, 9 Jan 2013 14:15:47 In Reply to: Re: 2000 9-3 Shifting woes. I think I just found out how I was able to shift with the engine running before I attempted gear alignment last night. Here is the behaviour now:
If I put the car into first (I think any gear), and start with clutch pedal to floor, the car will start and idle as normal. Not sure why it wouldn't yesterday. Only thing I've done is the alignment proper.
ALSO, I can then shift at idle into all the other gears, except I think 5th. reverse even worked and there was no struggle. I was also able to disengage the clutch and drive forward in first, but noticed after going back into neutral a few times, the "wall" came back, and I had to turn off the car to get it into gear.
How can this be? I can shift into gears AFTER starting car with it IN a gear, but if I start car in neutral, it's no go on shifting. This must be a sure sign of clutch master, linkage, tranny, or something? I hope! :) I'm also wondering since I seem to be able to engage/disengage the clutch for start/stop if that means the clutch is OK and the problem is in the box? Thanks for any help!
