Tried picking up the car today after they finally "fixed" the airbag light problem ... and things got worse.

My car has had a difficult to diagnose reverse issue, that lately seems to get worse when the car warms up and has been driven for awhile. It won't go into reverse many times, unless rolling backwards, and sometimes not at all without lots of patient fiddling with the shifter.

Long story short, I tried to make this problem clear to the shop (even in writing) before they even took the keys. As expected from the idiots, someone managed to completely break off the shifter and reverse lockout. When I reached for neutral, the entire knob and lockout assembly came out in my hand. I'm only hoping there isn't more damage with that kind of force being used on the shifter. I've never had the knob come off or even loose.

After a bunch more fighting, these clowns told me they would just "epoxy" the entire knob assembly back to the shift rod. They even claimed it was "glued" before, which is AFAIK a complete lie. I told them not to do this, and they later did it anyway.

I had my hand on all this earlier today, and even though it has the wooden shift knob (i think i installed years ago), I do believe that knob attached with a spline , and at most some loctite or super glue on the spline. They managed to completely strip the spline, and i could freely spine the knob even with the assembly pushed completely down on the shaft.

Going to resume the battle later this morning, but some technical info or opinions on all this would be much appreciated. I can't help but think throwing some epoxy at the top of inside of the reverse lockout assembly (tube), and essentially trying to glue the knob back on, isn't going to hold very long. Worse, it's obviously a safety issue if that comes off at the wrong time while driving.

Thanks for any ideas here!
