I concur with Gary P. I have been using Mobil 0/40W ever since my recall for sludge back in @2003. I have had the oil pan dropped 2x since then for pick-up cleaning (precaution) I have noticed that my oil starts getting black around 3.5K after changing at 5K intervals. But, then again i have 213K miles on my 01' 93SE. Just an FYI, I did have the upgraded PCV valve equipment installed around 150K, but i can't tell by performance or anything else it made a difference--I'm sure it probably does though. Good Luck.
