I have the stock head unit that powers an aftermarket amp thru the pre-out connector. My amp is connected directly to the car battery so it's "always on" but the "Amp On" signal from the head unit tells the amp to turn on. I suspect the Saab amp is the same and WIS suggests that it is:
When the audio system is activated, the trigger voltage is supplied from pin 8 in the DIN connector to pin 8 in the amplifier's DIN connector. The trigger voltage alerts the amplifier, which is activated.
If I recall correctly, note I'm getting old, it's a 4v signal. Looking at the Parrot wiring diagram I don't see any type of amp on signal. I would guess the amp in the Parrot wiring diagram would need to get the "on" signal from the speaker signal. I've wired a couple amplified subs this way, but never liked it as much as the signal from the head unit. Not ever amp works with a speaker signal and the Saab amp likely does not.
You could always replace the door and dash speakers with a component set, then you wouldn't need the Saab amp. You could also look at an aftermarket 2 channel amp that fits in the kick panel. Amps have gotten pretty small since I install my amp in the early 2000's.
