Amp on us a TTL (5v trigger) 12v will work, example using the aftermarket head unit {amp on} signal. Inside the factory door amplifier there is a slide to adapt the input gain. Helps for some setups like this without separate levels for this channel.
Done quite a few this way.
You can also get an interface to make the steering wheel buttons operate the new head unit. The wired always worked better than the infrared. The Peripheral brand have always been nice.
