Main issue would be size of valve inlet and outlet barbs and getting vacuum hose to fit. Flexible silicone hose would stretch more easily than standard rubber vacuum hose, especially if old, hard, and prone to splitting. Valve would have to oriented so that it allows air flow toward engine intake manifold and solenoid valve on firewall. Places where non-OEM check valves may not work would be where high heat or oil is present, as in blow-off valve or PCV system. There may be other possble valves in the online NAPA catalog.
