I had the same rear window failure many years ago, before the Taliaferro replacement guide piece was available. Their kit will save you about $100 since you are reusing the old regulator (around $150 new), but you still have to remove the entire assembly from the door. My notes say I thought it was a "miserable job", probably because you have to drill out the large rivets to remove the old regulator (takes a 8.5mm drill bit, and a 4 mm drift to knock the pieces out). The only other issue was removing the external window seal, that turns out to be easy as it is a flexible piece that peals up without any danger of breaking. I do remember that the Dealer wanted over $500 to do the job. I also thought it was curious that the rear window regulator broke, as I don't remember EVER having a passenger in the back seat, so I probably only opened that window 3 or 4 times in 10 years...
