Get it thoroughly checked out by a reputable Saab mechanic. I bought my 94 SEt 5spd. a couple of years back with 42k on it, now have 80k and it runs as good as ever. Problem areas were nuisance items but not show stoppers, no worse or even a little better than my 4 OG 900's. The things to look over good are clutch, ABS controller, front suspension, air conditioning, and expensive to fix oil leaks.
You can about figure at 80k you will (if the old owner did not)likely need washer pump, water pump, clutch cable, shift link upgrade or at least a bushing or two, idler pulley, sepentine belt, brakes, exhaust system, strut bushings, hoses and vacuum lines, tires... these are not necessarily PROBLEMS with the 1994 Model, but are pretty much normal for any car with 80k on it. A little preventive maintainance goes a long way.
I have driven several newer ones, and don't see any real improvements. The reason you here MORE about the 1994 model is because IT HAS BEEN AROUND LONGER, wait 'till you read about some awful 2001 model in SEVEN OR EIGHT YEARS...
I am keeping mine until some idiot totals it out or I reach 200K, whichever occurs first.
