The tech working on my vehicle right now has informed me my bill will not exceed $3,000. Apparently, Saab wanted to send him completely new headers, which, I understand, is the more expensive route to go. The tech has instead decided to change all the bent valves. Two good things, though. First, I guess the bill could have been a lot higher. And second, he's been able to put in some other new belts and things while he's got the access to them. That could save me some money down the road. I guess the sad thing is, I'm usually really good about taking care of my car--timely oil changes, new brakes when needed, filters and the like. I'll be damned why I missed the part about getting in to have the timing belt replaced. Certainly if I'd known the kind of damage caused, I would have definately had the car in for service.

It seems I've had the kinds of trouble with this car that SHOULDN'T happen to it. For example, the digital display panel (outside temp, radio frequency, etc.) is going bad -- been that way for about a year now. Told it'll be about $700 to replace. Then I remember hearing from friends who've had Saabs in the past and they tell the story of how theirs went for 220,000 with only having to change the oil. With my luck, you can see why I only go to the stage shows in Vegas.
