Apart from routine maintenance, the only extra things I have done are
1. Clutch cable replacement ($70, parts + labor)
2. Idler pulley replacement ($80, parts + labor)
The minor (10,000 mile) service costs around $150
The major (30,000 mile) major service costs around $300-$350
All work done by an independent SAAB mechanic.
My shocks are worn out.. planning to replace them with konis soon..
Gas mileage is around 28-30mpg.
We also have Volvo S70. Maintenance is a little more expensive. Gas mileage is aroung 25-26mpg. Hard to find independent mechanics for this car. Have to take it to the dealer and they charge $90/hr!
btw, the SAAB is a lot more fun to drive than the S70.. the SAAB also has a better torque curve, is more ergonomic and has better seats.. i never seem to find a comfortable position in the Volvo. The Volvo is better at people carrying tasks.. it can seat five people comfortably..
