Anecdote does not equal pattern

Couple of observations here....
(1) I'm sure Joe got a crappy salesman.
(2) That does not necessarily mean the dealer is bad, unless Joe has some reason to believe the salesman's demeanor was either typical to or tolerated by the dealer.
(3) Seems highly unlikely that this is an Audi problem. People w/bad experiences tend to complain. People w/good experiences tend to shut up. I'm sure there are just as many bad Saab salespeople/dealers as there are for Audi.
(4) Dealers are under no obligation to negotiate. Any good salesperson should be curteous, but why should he/she sell any car for less than what it's worth. If the car in question is flying off the lot, consider yourself lucky that they're not marking it up. While attitude and tone of voice are critical, I don't think there's anything wrong with a salesperson saying "I'm not willing to negotiate on the price."
p.s. I don't work for Audi, Saab, or any company that has anything to do w/the automotive industry.
