I understand your point, but a sample of a few (in your personal experience) is not very significant. Or, maybe I'm the exception since my V6 has been pretty much flawless for the last 116K miles...
I think there could be many reasons for Saab to drop the V6, but I would doubt it is primarily because the engine has a major reliability problem. Perhaps with the V6 it makes one more variation of engine to keep in the mix with respect to service and other matters. Just as a note, and I'm sure you know this, but the V6 in the 9-5 has always been turbocharged. I think what you meant to say was Saab has decided to drop the V6 in favor of _I4_ turbocharged engines. Did the 9-3 ever have the V6? I thought it was only the NG900 that had the V6 from '94 - '97...
It doesn't really matter, you and I have two different personal experiences. You don't recommend the V6 and I have no problem recommending the V6. As long as it's Saab, who cares, right? :-)
