Thanks for the explanation - I considered that could be the case myself, that hide food is intended for more of a natural, untreated leather where it can actually soak in and do some good. My guess is the stuff probably evaporates right off of my seats.
I guess my perception of well-treated leather is a soft, pliable feel. My seats are anything but. In addition I was getting the car washed/waxed before vacation as I won't have time and the guy doing it said "you really ought to treat that leather" and my response was "just did". He may have been trying to upsell me (likely) but on the other hand there could be some truth in what he said - the hide food isn't doing the job. Like I said, maybe I'm worrying about nothing, but it's about to get HOT in Atlanta, and I have a black car, so I'd like to take any precautions I can to make sure the leather is well protected.
I've got some Tanner's cleaner and conditioner that I used on my '98 900 so perhaps I'll try that instead and see how that does.
Thanks again,
John
