I really didn't like the Matrix, because there were so many seeming paradoxes. I.e. if freedom and free will are so important, why does Morpheus believe in the oracle and fate, if machines are so bad, why are the humans still so heavily dependent on them etc.
However, it really helps to see the Matrix right before the Matrix Reloaded. A lot of those questions I had about the first were answered in the second. I do think that car chase and the dance went on a little too long, but other than that, it was really good. Neo and Trinity were also a lil too lovey dovey, but I'll forgive them. ;)
So seeing them together has given me a new appreciation for the Matrix.
I also like that there actually some @$$-kickin' females in the Matrix, they are sorely lacking in LOTR. :)
