You know.... I had a good attitude early on after GM's full acquisition. I thought, "hey, if GM is smart, they'll learn from Saab's engineering and perhaps Saab can benefit from GM's financial strength." After all, even when the 9-3SS was introduced as a shared platform, chassis designed by Saab, I gave GM kudos for allowing themselves to use a superior Saab design across their product offering. Now with the news of the 9-2 and 9-7, I just want to weep. Don't ruin what was once grand and wonderful to most of us here. I'm sooooo disgusted!!! If this is what we expect in the future, as evidenced in some of the very shameful features of the new 9-3 interior, I guess I'll be going the Bimmer or Audi route. Yes, GM may gain some new Saab owners, but it will definitely lose many of the "old school" Saab lovers.
Guess this is kinda like the ole' Harley AMF disaster.
Saabs may suck for a few years, then someone will come around and set them straight. Hmmmm, wonder how many Bimmers or Audis I will have owned by the time Saab is Saab again?
Understand, this Saab thing has been a love affair since I was 16 and I got my '80 900 GLE. Saabs have been all I've driven for 14 years. I don't want to change, but GM may leave me no choice. A Saab with a naturally aspirated Subie power plant? Puh! What a joke!
