use http://www.viamichelin.com or http://www.map24.com which give detailed instructions & print it out b4 you go... gasoline UGH $50/tank... & watch for the "pay at the pump" stuff they have weird rules about the MC/Visa stuff & machines only accept credit cards from France. If you are driving consider insurance through Travelguard Protect Assist which includes CDW.
in big American cities call a cab from your hotel; in France don't, hail one... if you call a cab from your 'otel they may start the meter running from where they are and the fare may be 20 Euros by the time it gets to you (not kidding)
