know how many users you are going to have with the line coming. Verizon DSL is probably the cheapest but they are not as fast, I think something like 780K download and 128K upload. Optimum online is faster I believe at 1.5M download and 128K upload. Similar speed for AT&T etc.. Cable modem is faster but the price is higher as well.
In another word, you get what you paid for. The question for you is do you need 1.5M download or would half that speed suffice. If you have simutaneous users then maybe go with the more expensive 1.5M download at about $50/month. I wish Verizon would charge $25/month as that is half the download speed at half the price :-).
I think Verizon's deal is good if you are just a single user looking for high speed access. My AT&T dialup costs $17/month at 150 hours per billing period and that I consider very expensive; their unlimited usage is $20+/month so comparing speed and usage I think the Verizon DSL is a great deal.
