I took a bamboo skewer and rapped a folded paper towel around the end and secured with two bag ties. Dipped that into a bottle of sevin and poked that into the opening of the nest. This really got them mad. The ones on the inside came out and the ones that arrived had to get inside. So there was lots of traffic over the sevin soaked material. The wasps were dropping like rain of the the sky! Sevin is very toxic to bees and their cousins. Thats why the bottle says that it is very toxic to bees so you can avoid spraying when/where they are foraging.
I inserted the free end of the skewer into the end of a bambo pole used to stake up plants, and that let me insert from a distance from the nest.
