both my wife and I loved the lane discipline on the autoroutes.
We cruised steadily in the 85 to 100 mph range and there was never a tense moment. Left lane when you needed it, otherwise the middle lane was fine. She gets antsy over 75 here, but has said several times how nice it was driving there because there was no real sense of high speed. Everyone was well mannered, signaled, and no one jabbering on a phone or weaving. When someone was on the phone, they were doing 65 in the right lane.
When we've related this to people here who haven't driven in Europe they can't believe how different it was and that we would have been running that fast.
