1) Using a 3 day pass that was paid for in full to attend for one day because the purchaser chose to only go for one isn't stealing a penny from anyone's pocket. If an attendee that has exhausted his interest in the event or is unable to attend all 3 days because of other commitments lets someone else go, that person actally brings more dollars to the event. Rest assured, I would have spent money there.
2) My friend had a list of stuff I was interested in because I knew damn well the deals wouldn't last until Sat. but his opportunity to shop for me was severely curtailed by the actions I mentioned.
3) Nothing I've said detracts from the appreciation or respect I have for Marc and the others who devoted so much of their time for this event. Without them it couldn't happen.
4) Different folks attend such shows for varied reasons. As I said, I love the cars but also enjoy the opportunity to get some good deals on parts, especially discontiued stuff. I suspect a LOT of others do to. If the event is for Saab owners, then the owners should have the edge over a dealer that goes their to re-stock his Internet store with items he's buying for less than he sold them back to Saab for from his dealership. All I'm saying is I think dealers shouldn't get first crack at the stuff.
5) Attendance is irrelevant with respect to the right to critique, my friend. I'm not in Iraq but that doesn't mean I can't criticize what's going on there. It does, however, place a responsibility on me to be certain of the facts I'm relating as I didn't personally see witness these events. If I've mis-stated facts, I am apologetic. I heard of, what I perceive to be, a negative little happening there that I feel undercuts some of the goodwill generated by the event. I said something about here it in the hopes that drawing attention to it may bring about change. I've driven Saabs for 25 years and have no intention of changing that because I didn't get a great deal on some parts.
