Here's one thing I know for certain...

Bimmers are naturally aspirated engines and their owners are familiar with naturally aspirated engines. I've learned by allowing others to drive my turbo cars over the years that those folks don't know how to run a turbo engine, thus never getting anywhere close to full torque. Driving a Saab turbo takes some time behind the wheel.

Even though I've owned many turbo Saabs, I fell victim to the same problem when driving my mothers 9-3SS Linear. It doesn't make boost as early as my other Saabs, so I wrote it off as under powered. At SOC, I rode with my stepfather in the 9-3SS. Bottom line... That little 175hp engine hauls ass as long as you keep the Rs up.

The comment about Saab using four cylinders to be cheap or cut cost shows just how little they know about Saab. I love my 4 banger gettin 33 mpg and still has the power to embarrass most other "performance" cars on the road.

A colleague of mine has a 325 convertible. I drove it while he drove my 9000 Aero. He was very impressed, I was very disappointed. That 2.5 Bimmer 6 was a DOG. He couldn't stop smiling after driving the Aero. Just today I had an E30 M3 for lunch and dinner. He tried soooo hard, I felt bad for him. Could I do the same with a new M3? NO! But maybe the previous generation? Only time will tell. :)

Bimmers aren't all they're cracked up to be.
