But to be fair, my Minolta has a 4x zoom, and I never had a problem taking shots at its max zoom without the tripod.
Of the two cameras mentioned above, I haven't tried the 5700, but spent some time with friends' G2 and G3. I had no complaints regarding the image quality (and according to the reviews it really is good), but I've found the body to be very bulky, clumsy and uncomfortable to use. Also, the menus and the general operation are rather slow compared to other cameras I had experience with.
