So sorry to hear. I was rear-ended about four weeks ago and nobody was hurt (except for my '02 Aero wagon - $1,500 in damage, and I bet it will go up when they start disassembling). Insurance is taking care of it thankfully, although that's been a fight already -- how can you not replace a bumper cover that was the first point of impact that created more than $1K in damages? The body shop will have to fight that one at my insistence.
You simply have to put mind over matter in these instances. Your wife could call you after the accident thankfully (have them checked out as others advise)...and give them a good hug tonight, and be thankful they were driving the Saab. Cars can be fixed, as fellow posters have said. You have a great family to return home to tonight -- that's the ultimate. And they were protected by a wise choice on your part. Way to go.
Best of luck...and sorry to hear of this.
