There are services that will bid for you. I don't mean thru Ebay, although you can enter your max and Ebay will match your oppenet's bid with the smallest increment up to your max. For example you are bidding on an alternator for your Saab and the current price is 10 bucks. You bid 40. The price only increase by the smallest inrement, let's say 1 dollar. When others bid, Ebay will match their bid by bidding for you (1 dollar increments)
The problem is that you are not the only one doing this, so when others also enter their max, the price quickly jumps to the the ultimate max (the real highest bidder) and you back to where you started.
So realistically you can only win in the last 3 seconds of the auction.
There are 2 ways; You can wait it out - Snipping (I guess)
OR
You can use a third party service to bid for you in the last seconds.
BTW. John Nash would say that for a Dutch auction, your best strategy is to bid only the price that the object is worth to YOU. No more and no less.
That's all I got,
Roman
