I sat in a 5 series at the auto show recently and was shocked by the crapiness of the interior. The iDrive knob was too light, hollow feeling, and plain old plasticky. Like a wheel of a cheap toy truck. The knobs on the dash were similarly pitiful. They were cheap feeling & loose. They wiggled around the axis they turn on. Not good. Pitiful compared to something like the volume knob in my 9-5. For comparison, I also sat in a Mazda 3 and feel the switchgear was better in the Mazda than the 5. The old 5 was better than the new one.
