Sliding Rear Seats?

Has a wagon or hatchback with sliding/moving rear seats (like front seats have been doing for decades ever been built? Either manually or electronically operated. And I don't mean just tilting, actually moving the entire seat back or forwards while in normal upright position so that people could still be normally seated.
I think it would be a nice feauture in both our cars (a 97 900SET 5-door & an 01 A4 Wagon) as they have slightly smallish back seats. The vast majority of time it is not a problem, but at times when you have average or larger sized adults in the back seat and little or no luggage in the hatchback or wagon, it would be nice to be able to slide the rear seats back a few inches to give the passengers in the back seats a little more leg room, since the luggage space behind the rear seats is not being used anyway.
Does this make sense/seem practical? And has it been done yet? Any reasons it wouldn't work? Maybe a good design idea for a future Saab?
