Well, thanks for the recommendation, but no, I'm not actually interested in a buying a new car right now, I was just curious about the design idea of sliding rear seats...I actually love both our cars and can't think of many other complaints besides a smallish rear seat--but that's what keeps them small and very fun sporty cars to drive, so I'll accept it. Especially since it's very rare that we have 2 larger adults in the back seat.
Although I'm sure the Malibu Maxx drives fine and cheers to GM for thinking about utility in a car (not just another SUV)--one car only wonder if Saab somehow influenced their thought process to make a functional hatchback--I don't think it's for me though, something about it doesn't feel right.
However, though the styling of the Maxx isn't my main point in this thread (functionality is), since it came up, I will say that I do think it is very ugly--both exterior and interior...and frankly I would have a tough time buying a car that I thought was very ugly, no matter how well it drove. Especially if it was to replace a car I loved. That's of course just my "superficial" opinion...to each their own.
