Hmmm, I'm not familiar with the certain Vauxhall that you are referring too...nor have I been in the Merkur referred to in another post. It is enlighteing to hear that this has been done multiple times already (and is being done currently in a few cases).
And on the other topic of reclining (as opposed to sliding) rear seats, I have seen that feature in a few cars--an circa '90 BMW 7-series comes to mind. The base of the seat actually slid forward a little bit and the rear of the seat tilted slightly to a more horizontal position while the headrest stayed in about the same spot. Of course, even with the seat sliding slightly forward, rear seat legroom isn't a problem in that car anyway even for someone over 6 feet tall as I am, but it was a small, but neat feature for comfort reasons on longer drives. It definitely is the favorite back seat I've ever sat in as it had heated rear seats as well.
